I’ve found that EasyVSL is the best on the market, because it can help you create stunning video sales letters in an incredibly short period of time, leaving you free to work on more important tasks.

In fact, you don’t need any technical expertise or video production skills to make a video sales letter with EasyVSL. Believe me, if I can do it, so can you.


This is my EasyVSL review, but first I want to give you some tips on how to create a video sales letter.

What Is a Video Sales Letter?

Video sales letters are all the rage right now in marketing. In the simplest terms, a video sales letter is basically your print sales letter put in video form.

It doesn’t really matter what you need to sell, video sales letters can help. I personally use video sales letters to sell my $997 course, Financial Advisor Marketing Mastery, which you can see on this site’s homepage.

I think that video sales letters are working well now because people are tired of having to read several dozen pages of information to make a decision. They would rather sit back, relax, watch a video and make a decision that way.

Do Video Sales Letters Perform Better Than Text?

Pretty much, yeah.

In a nutshell, video sales letters tend to perform better than “normal” sales letters because:


  • They get your message across better than plain old text.
  • They are better at building trust with potential customers because they can see that you’re “real”.  
  • You can educate your audience better with visuals.

The other reason why so many marketers are making the switch to video sales letters isn’t as obvious. Yes, it’s because video sales letters tend to have higher conversions, but what’s the root cause of that?

It’s because you can control every aspect on the message.

Have you ever noticed how most video sales letters on the internet don’t have any video controls? In other words, they don’t allow you to skip ahead or rewind. There’s a reason for that, and it’s because the video sales letter creator wants to make sure that the message is tightly controlled.

You see, people rarely read a text-based sales letter word-for-word. Instead, they read the headings and subheadings, scroll all the way to the bottom, skim the page a little bit and then make a decision if they want to read the whole thing.

You probably do some variation of this too. We all do - video sales letters solve that problem.

When you use a video sales letter, you can literally spoon-feed your viewer your entire sales message, line by line. You’re ensuring that no part gets skipped. After all, what happens if someone is skimming your text-based sales letter and skips over the most important part? Then you’ve lost a sale that could’ve easily been avoided with a video sales letter.

If you need even more proof, head on over to popular affiliate sites like ClickBank and take a look at some of the best-selling products. Count how many video sales letters you see versus text-based sales letters. You’ll see that a large majority of the best-selling products on the internet use video sales letters, and it’s because they convert better.

Now, I would be doing a disservice if I didn’t tell you that there are some rare exceptions where a text AND video hybrid actually performs better than the video by itself. That has been the case with my own personal products, which is why you see both the sales video (which I made with EasyVSL) and the sales letter on the homepage of this site.

Video Sales Letter Formula

If I was an online marketer making courses about how to make money online, I would charge for this stuff. However, my main business is helping financial advisors get more clients, which is why I don’t mind sharing my process for creating a high-performing video sales letter.

Here’s a proven formula you can use today to dramatically improve your video sales letters.

1. Get attention.

This is the most important part of your video sales letter because if you can’t get people’s attention, they won’t watch your video. Period.

I always start my videos off with a shocking statement like, “If you’re a financial advisor, this could be the most important video you ever watch.” If you’re a financial advisor, it’s pretty darn hard for you to ignore that statement.

2. Present the problem.

What problem does your product or service solve? Talk about that. This might only be a couple slides, but you want to get it out there as soon as possible before your audience gets bored. The sooner you present the problem, the better. If someone is suffering from the problem, he/she WILL stay and watch the video.

3. Agitate the problem.

Make the problem worse. Tell them why it’s even worse than they think and why it’s important that they solve the problem today (by buying your product or service, of course).

You want to hit them hard, on an emotional level. Because I help financial advisors get more clients, I talk about how them not investing in themselves is not only hurting them, but their family as well. If they can’t get out there and get more clients, they won’t be able to afford to put their children in a good school or give their spouses the luxuries they deserve. That really agitates the problem and gets them listening.

4. Introduce your product or service as the solution.

This is the part where you show that you can fix the problem. You are the hero! You can rush in and save the day with your solution. You’ve spent some time talking about the problem they face and building up tension - now it’s time to release it a little bit.

Don’t talk about your product or service too much. We’re going to do that later. Right now all you want to do is let them know that you can solve the problem.

5. Proof and credibility - show why they should listen to you.

I’ve heard of some people starting off their video sales letter with a biography slide to build credibility, but I personally like to get attention as soon as possible. My experience has been that if you start your video sales letter off with the credibility and proof, people don’t care as much. That’s why I have this as the fifth step.

This is the part where you talk a little bit about yourself - don’t overdo it - and why you are uniquely qualified to solve their problem. Then you prove that what you’re saying is true. You can have testimonials, media features, statistics, etc. Do whatever you have to do to illustrate that you’re the real deal.

6. Explain your offer in detail.

This is where you explain exactly how you can solve the problem. It’s also where you illustrate all the deliverables that the consumer will receive. The slide that starts this section usually reads like, “Here’s Exactly What You Get When You…”

7. The close.

This is where you give people a reason to act now - you can do this with scarcity, a deadline, offering bonuses, etc. All of those have been proven to be effective, but you want to go for the close. Ask for the order and reinforce all the benefits they get from purchasing your product or services.

I was really impressed at how EasyVSL is loaded chock-full of various features that make creating and editing a video sales letter much easier. Here are some of my favorites:

Automatic slide creation.

You can literally paste your text into EasyVSL and it generates slides for you automatically. Yes, really. Say goodbye to manually entering content slide by slide!

Custom fonts and background themes.

I’m pretty picky when it comes to my fonts and themes. I’m usually the guy who is purchasing additional themes and fonts, but EasyVSL has a bunch of good ones pre-loaded into the software. All you have to do is pick the ones that you want and it applies to your VSL.

Speech-to-text video creation and speech recognition.

Okay, this is the part that really impressed me. When you upload an audio file to EasyVSL, it will automatically detect your speech and convert it to text when creating each video slide. It will also match it with the particular slide.

Here’s the idea: you upload your video sales letter text and it creates the slides for you. Then you upload an audio file (like an MP3) of you reading the sales letter and it effortlessly matches up with the text. It’s really cool, and it’s the part that has made EasyVSL so popular because it cuts down on the time needed to create a video sales letter.

I remember trying to record a 20-minute video sales letter and whenever I made a mistake, I had to go back and re-record everything. With EasyVSL, I don’t have to do that because I simply record my sales letter in a recording software like Audacity, where I can stop and edit if I make a mistake.

Sound effects library.

I used to use tools like MovieMaker, iMovie, and Camtasia. These were pretty good video editing tools, but they require a little bit of tech-savvy and they aren’t designed to create sales letters.

It took me several hours or more just to create one video sales letters, largely because I had to copy and past each line of text to my presentation.
