What Is ClickFunnels? My Honest ClickFunnels Review

ClickFunnels - what is clickfunnels? this is my honest clickfunnels review
This post contains affiliate links because a playa has got to get paid!

If you’ve been involved with internet marketing for any length of time, you’ve probably heard of ClickFunnels by now.

I’ve seen their stuff all over the web and I was curious for a long time. I was even a little skeptical. Then I tried their service and I was blown away.

If you’re looking to build a funnel quickly, which can be used to test ideas or make money from your own products/services, ClickFunnels is for you.

What Is ClickFunnels?

ClickFunnels is an online platform with a lot of cool features that are all geared towards generating leads and increasing conversions. Check it out here.

It does this by creating a sales funnel - a series of pages that people navigate through in order to purchase a product. If you do it right, sales funnels can be extremely effective. Fortunately, ClickFunnels helps you do it right.

Here’s what it does…

It’s a landing page and sales page designer with tons of templates. And not only does it come with page templates, but it has entire funnel templates. That’s the cool part. There are literally funnel templates that have been tested and proven to work - ClickFunnels makes it easy to just plug and play.

Another thing I like about ClickFunnels is that it handles all the billing inside the system. All you have to do is link a Stripe account and you can make sales directly from inside your sales pages in ClickFunnels.

You don’t have to know how to code or anything. All of this stuff is already done for you - you just tweak and edit to get it just right and you’re good to go.

Here's how it works...

Before We Get Started, Read This...

I know there are a lot of online "reviews" where people talk about software and hawk it without ever using it to get an affiliate commission. That's why I've included a photo of my actual account within ClickFunnels to prove to you that I ACTUALLY use it.

I figure proof trumps everything else. :-)

My profile within ClickFunnels, proving I use it within my ClickFunnels review
My profile within ClickFunnels, proving I actually use it. :-)

Step 1: Pick Your Sales Funnel

First, you have to pick the type of sales funnel that is scientifically pre-designed to sell your type of product. ClickFunnels lets you choose from a list of industries like retail, e-commerce, B2B, consulting, networking marketing, professional services, and more.

You can also choose the type of funnel that you want. Some funnels can generate leads, while others can sell a product. So if you’re a consultant who wants to generate leads, all you have to do is select “consultant” for your industry and “generate leads” for your type of funnel. It’s that easy.

ClickFunnels is specifically made for the following groups of people…

  • Authors
  • Coaches/consultants (like me!)
  • Speakers
  • Service-based businesses
  • Supplement business owners
  • Local businesses (like dentists, insurance salespeople, lawyers, chiropractors, and more)
  • Retail and e-commerce businesses

So whether you’re a solopreneur or big business owner, ClickFunnels will give you everything you need to market, sell, and deliver your products to your leads and customers.

Step 2: Pick The Page Designs

Once you’ve chosen your sales funnel, you just choose the style of page that you like the best.

You don’t have to have any design or coding skills - you literally just pick and choose. And the designs are just as good as the “professionals” would charge thousands of dollars for.

Step 3: Modify The Page

This is where you just put in your name, offer, information, etc. In this step, you’re making the funnel customized to your needs. You can add images, headlines, sub-headlines, bullet points, and more.

After that, you just set the funnel to go live and you’re done.
the third step to using clickfunnels in my clickfunnels review explaining what is clickfunnels
You can modify the pages so they fit your exact needs. :-)

Examples of Funnels...

Here are some of the more popular funnels, just to give you a few ideas

The Free Book + Shipping Funnel

This is one of my favorite funnels. It’s also how I got on Russell Brunson’s (founder of ClickFunnels) email list… four times…

Yes, you read that right. Russell Brunson’s funnels are so powerful that I have been through them four times. He’s offered four different books for free plus shipping. Here they are:

The Perfect Webinar (this has helped me double my business)

108 Split-Tests (one of my favorite marketing books ever)

DotCom Secrets

Expert Secrets

This funnel allows you to sell thousands of books while covering all of your costs because you offer upsells and other products along the way. And even if someone doesn’t buy anything else from the funnel, you’ve still got an extra email address on your list.

Coach/Consultant Client-Generating Funnel

This funnel is designed to take someone as quickly as possible to a strategy call where you can present your coaching and consulting services.

This type of funnel has four basic steps:
  • Present a valuable offer, such as a PDF or free video training.
  • Deliver on that training by actually helping the people get results. Frank Kern calls this “results in advance”.
  • Provide an application to make sure that the lead is a good fit for your business.
  • Book the call with the coaching/consulting prospect.

Having a funnel set up to handle this makes everything much more efficient.

The "Fishbowl" Funnel

This is a good funnel too because it gets straight to the point. It’s one of the funnels that offers something for free and then uses a discount offer or deal to convert that lead into a customer almost immediately.

It’s the one that I personally use the most and I recommend it because it can help you quickly create a list of buyers.

No, not that fishbowl, silly!

What Are The Most Important Elements Of A Landing Page or Funnel?

I took the time to ask several experts this question: “What are the most important elements of a landing page/funnel?” Here’s what they told me:

Zack Burt from Code for Cash, Inc. told me that some of the most important elements of a good landing page are:
  • Showing social proof
  • Selling benefits, not features
  • Including a call to action
  • Offering something in exchange for an email (like the fishbowl funnel)
  • Making it clear that you won’t spam or sell their information

Tyler Sprunk of Simple Strat told me that there’s a lot involved in building a high-converting landing page, but there are two elements he often sees missing…

First, you want to make sure that the only action a user can take is the one you want him or her to. Remove links to other web pages, social media sites, etc. and make the primary call-to-action attractive and easy to see.

Secondly, add some social proof to your landing pages to build trust. Including a testimonial quote or logos from other clients will show your landing page visitors that you’re a credible company.

Justin Quick from NetBlaze gave me some awesome advice when he told me that your goal should be to create something so valuable that people want to print them and keep them. That’s a pretty good way to look at creating lead magnets.

He also pointed out that you want to be sure you’re appealing to an urgent problem, because the more urgent the problem, the more likely you’ll secure the reader’s attention. I agree - if you have an urgent problem, you’re likely to see higher conversion rates.

David Hoos from thegood.com told me that the core principle of a good sales funnel is that you want to remove friction and increase value to keep users moving down the funnel. Fortunately, ClickFunnels is great for stuff like this.

Steven Benson from BadgerMapping.com says that you should think about your sales funnel as one big lifecycle and break it up into many small steps. That way you can look at every stage of the funnel and evaluate it. If you can see how many people go into each stage and how many people exit, you can plug any leaks in your funnel.

He points out that in his experience, people tend to over-optimize the top of the funnel and worry about the total number of leads instead of maximizing the middle and end of the funnel. ClickFunnels solves this problem because it has the ability to offer order bumps and upsells, as well as follow up with your leads through an email follow-up sequence.

And finally, Joshua Feinberg from sphomerun.com says that these are some elements of a good sales funnel:

  • SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, and time-bound)
  • Segmentation by buyer persona and buyer’s journey stage
  • Personalization
  • Closed-loop reporting (being able to tie new client wins to marketing activities for traffic generation, lead generation, and sales cycle acceleration)

Ellie Dote from EllieGirl Creations also says you need to start with the end goal in mind. Great advice!

What Sales Funnel Makes The Most Money?

I get asked this question a lot and there’s no real answer. The sales funnel that makes you the most money is the funnel that works. If you can put together an amazing offer, provide value to people, maximize your customer value, and be profitable… then your funnel is working.

I’m not telling you that your first funnel will be a smashing success because it probably won’t be. Like anything in life, you need to practice and develop your skill. Work is involved. Some people work for months or even years before they get the success they deserve. However, it’s well worth the effort.

The reason that ClickFunnels is so awesome is because it allows you to fail really quickly. What I mean by that is you can create funnels quickly, launch them, and test them much quicker than if you were creating them manually from scratch.

If you have a limited budget right now then you need to focus on speed, which ClickFunnels can help you with. You can pay for ClickFunnels and quickly start testing your ideas. You’re going to need to make amazing content that answers questions, then use outreach as your method for getting in front of customers. You can write blog posts, get active on social media - whatever it takes to get people to the top of your funnel.

How Much Does ClickFunnels Cost?

As of this writing, ClickFunnels offers two plans - the basic account and the enterprise account, also known as the Etison Suite. The basic account is $97 per month and the enterprise account is $297 per month. If you’re just an individual who is looking to create a few funnels (up to 20) then the basic plan is right for you. Unless you’re a big company, chances are you won’t need the enterprise plan. Anyway, I’ve uploaded a chart comparing the different plans below…

Which Email Autoresponders Integrate With ClickFunnels?

This is a great question and it’s one of the concerns I had when I first started looking at ClickFunnels. I use Drip and wanted to make sure that they would work together. Fortunately, they do! ClickFunnels currently integrates with the following services:

  • Active Campaign
  • Aweber
  • Constant Contact
  • ConvertKit
  • Drip
  • Everwebinar
  • Facebook
  • GetResponse
  • GoToWebinar
  • HTML Form
  • Hubspot
  • Infusionsoft
  • Interspire
  • Kajabi
  • Mad Mimi
  • Mailchimp
  • Maropost
  • Ontraport
  • PayPal
  • Salesforce
  • Sendlane
  • ShipStation
  • SlyBroadcast
  • Stripe
  • Twilio
  • WebinarJam
  • Zapier

If you’re unsure about whether or not your current software or email autoresponder is supported, reach out to ClickFunnels and ask.

I also want to note that ClickFunnels DOES integrate with PayPal and Stripe, which is pretty important if you’re looking to get paid. There are tons of payment option gateways (aside from PayPal and Stripe) and ClickFunnels works really seamlessly with most. For brevity’s sake, I couldn’t list them all here.

Oh, and by the way… if you’re curious to learn about why I switched from ConvertKit to Drip, you can read about that right here.

One More Reason To Use ClickFunnels...

I didn’t realize this until I already started using ClickFunnels, but apparently for every funnel you create, ClickFunnels donates $1 to World Teacher Aid to help educate children in Kenya. I’ve uploaded a picture from Russell’s Facebook to show you what a difference ClickFunnels is making in the world. It’s really an awesome company.

I personally believe that if you run an actual business that is selling products or services, you should be able to make your money back and more. One of the reasons that ClickFunnels has been so successful and has grown so rapidly is that it pays for itself and more. People know that if they pay $97 for ClickFunnels, they’re going to make AT LEAST that back with the improvements it gives their business.

Anyway, make sure you sign up for that free 14-day trial today.
